Venue Information - Pula - Fortress System

Pula was once the main port of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. For more than a century, 26 huge fortresses or fortifications, 8 gun batteries, 60 other batteries, jumps, underground tunnels and many other interesting structures should protect the harbor and city. The outer fortress-fortress ring of Pula covers over 40,000 hectares. These fortifications are allegedly connected by an underground tunnel system, including the island fortresses Fort Marie Luise on Muzil and fortress monuments on the island of Brijuni.
