9th Saxon State Garden Show Torgau
From 23 April to 9 October 2022, a festival of garden art, design and culture can be experienced in Torgau. At the heart of the grounds are the two sections of the glacis dating back to the fortress era, with an ice rink meadow and the newly built OrnisSteg for nature and bird watching. The State Garden Show is a destination for all generations. Great playgrounds, a skate park and a beach area invite you to linger and be active. It is only a few minutes' walk from the Blumenhalle and the concert square to the city centre, which is well worth a visit with Hartenfels Castle, the Bear Pit and the historically valuable Old Town.

The fortress town of Torgau got its present appearance in the Renaissance of the 16th and early 17th century. The unique, architectural picture of the preserved Torgau Old Town shows pictorially the development of the Torgau during its renaissance flowering period. Torgau was a Saxon country fortress and later as Saxon-Napolean fortress an important and contested military location on the Elbe. At the beginning of the 19th century, Hartenfels Castle became part of the Saxon-Napoleonic fortress and later Prussian barracks. Today it is a monument of international standing and place for significant exhibitions, history and culture.
